It appears the US government is making some strides to help in the adoption of DNSSEC. Hopefully you're familiar with the issues regarding DNS that have appeared lately, namely the "Kaminsky bug". According to a recent post, the ".gov" domain will institute DNSSEC by the end of next year. Read the article here:

This is great news because somebody has to go first. Once this domain is converted other organizations will start following their lead. Also, as the article points out, once the government starts putting effort into the project vendors will start releasing products to make the transition easier for other organizations. The effort to convert the entire DNS infrastructure will be costly and time-consuming, so we need better and more automated tools to assist in the conversion.
In a related post it appears that Apple has finally released the bug fixes for the Kaminsky bug. A little slow, but hey, the new iPhones are cool and probably takes up a large part of their energy.
